You may have heard of Theo the 12 year old Golden Retriever with terminal cancer who was abandoned at a Wal-Mart parking lot in Joliet. Theo is being fostered by a wonderful woman, Jenny Leech and her husband, from Crystal Lake. Jenny has created a Bucket List for Theo and his story has gone viral! Good Morning America and People Magazine have also recently inquired about Theo!
As Jenny mentioned in one of her interviews Theo was brought here for a purpose .
“He came for some purpose and has been bringing a little hope during a tough season. I think people are looking for things and ways to feel good, and he’s giving people that chance,” she said.
It is unknown how long Theo has as his Vet could not put a time frame on his condition but for now he is happy and his pain is being managed with medication.
One Item on Theo’s Bucket List is to Visit a Brewery!
Please join us to meet Theo on
Sunday, September 6th from 1-3 pm
Two wonderful organizations Baark Dog Rescue
https://www.baarkdogrescue.org/ and Live Like Roo
https://livelikeroo.org/ have been instrumental in Theo’s care, covering all his medical expenses and so much more. Both organizations will be here on Sunday to help Theo check off another item on his bucket list.
Please see Live Like Roo’s mission statement below to learn more about their organization and how they have helped so many other animals and their families when faced with a cancer diagnosis.
We are a 501c3 that assists animals through a cancer diagnosis by providing financial and emotional support to their owners. We are nationwide, but are based in Chicago. Since 2016, we have granted over $900,000 to families going through one of the most difficult times of their lives. We also send cancer care packages to every person that applies. The care packages include a blanket, a tennis ball, toys, treats, a McDonald’s gift card, and tissues. All of the things that Roo the rescue dog loved. All of this in the name of a dog named Roo, who passed away far too soon from cancer. We created a bucket list and he lived life to the fullest for 5 months, inspiring others to live every day like it is your last-Live Like Roo.
